Today I found two Porcelain Insulators while diving the St.Clair river here in Michigan. The only marking I can find on ether on is a raised B inside of an O One is light brown and black about 3.75" dia x 2 7/8" tall. The other is Dark Brown 4.500 dia. x 3 1/8 tall Can you tell me antyhing about them?
Answer Hi -- Thanks for your question. Your first insulator was made by the Ohio Brass Co. of Mansfield Ohio, and from the glaze and style I'd date it from the 1930's. This was for secondary power distribution, probably in the 8,000 Volt range. Figure a $4 or so collector value -- nice early piece.
