About Bill Finkler
Expertise
I am a collector of US Military Wings and Medals, homefront war effort and sweetheart jewelry from the Spanish American War to present. I can answer questions regarding militaria such as authenticity, dating pieces, evaluating and supplying. I have been consulted by experts for books published on Sweetheart Jewelry.

Question
Hi Bill. I have a fabric (silk?) "wall envelope", clearly for holding flowers. The
upper portion (above the pocket) has a picture of a doughboy on one side,
and a girl holding a bouquet on the other, with "Remember Me" and a US flag
between them. There is also a poem: "Sweet be to thee life's passing hours/
And all thy days be decked with flowers." The lower, pocket portion is a US
flag. Have you ever seen anything like this? It seems like something a
sweetheart might keep on her wall while her boyfriend/husband is away at
war. Thanks!

Answer
Hi James,
There are many items that are like the one you describe that are "sweetheart" from the WW1 era. The variations and variety are endless. Right now I have a WW1 Bronze Photo Wall Plack on eBay with the American Flag & Photo of a Doughboy and his dog. If you are interested go to "seller search" medalmanbill to see it. A great piece and just another one of the great variety to come out of this era.
Thanks for the e-mail.
Sincerely, Bill
