Question
war pin
war pin
Bill,
I found this piece metal detecting on my uncles property in Colonial Heights VA near the Swift creek. Can you identify what unit this was or any other identification?
Thanks
Stan

Answer
Hi Stan,
Thanks for the e-mail and question.
What you have is NOT Civil War.
It is a Hat badge used by the U.S. Army infantry from about 1897 through the 1920's. The badge was worn on the campaign hat and stands for Co "K" 11th Infantry Regiment. The piece is in relic condition and of little collector value.
Sincerely, Bill
