JD MFG Feb. 1939
Hi:Bob I got this insulator at an auction. would like some info on who made it. Here are some pic.

Answer
Hi Dennis --

Your insulator was made by the Jeffery Dewitt Company of Kenova (Huntington), WV.  They were in business in insulators from 1922 through 1952.  They were unique from other companies in making large single piece power insulators.  Most of their competitors made power insulators from several separate porcelain shells that were cemented together.  They also used s distinct and attractive blue glaze as can be seen on yours.  Your insulator was made in February, 1939 (as marked) and is quite collectible.  I'd put a $25-$30 value on these for collectors.  It was designed for use in high voltage distribution in the 34,000 Volt range.

         Hope this helps, Thanks, --Bob
