About DaisyBBGunner
Expertise
Please read my entire profile. First, a BB gun or a pellet gun IS NOT A TOY. These must be treated like any loaded gun. Always assume one is loaded and never point it at anything you do not intend to shoot. Especially, never point it at a person. I can answer questions about Daisy products, including age and history. I can give production dates of most Daisy air rifles/BB guns and toys with a degree of accuracy within a year.

Experience
I am an avid collector of products made by the Daisy Manufacturing Company. These include Daisy BB guns, toys, accessories, catalogs, and advertisements of all kinds dating back to 1890. I have recently published the book An Encyclopedia of Daisy Plymouth Guns, which can be seen at www.daisyencyclopedia.com.

Question
What can you tell me about a variation I've seen in the Daisy 104? Apparently not all 104's have the small oval 'window' above the safety lever.  I believe this is very rare but I've seen one and know of one other example where this opening is not cut into the side of the receiver.  Was this a very early model?  Thank you

Answer
Larry,

You are correct.  The No. 104 double barrel without the oval "SAFE" window is quite scarce and was the first production variation, in my opinion.  On these guns, the word "SAFE" appeared on the safety switch itself, rather than being viewed through the oval window.  In my book, An Encyclopedia of Daisy Plymouth Guns," the two variations of "SAFE" switches appear in a photo of side-by-side guns.
