Question
Dear Bubblin' Marilyn,
We loved your website. We've heard that the people who perform shows with bubbles have a special bubble recipe. Is this true? Can we make these professional bubbles at home?

Thanks,
Julie and Riley

Answer
Hi Julie,

The professionals do usually have their own bubble recipes which they often hold secret. The two things I have learned is that you need to use glycerin in the solution (although some suggest corn syrup instead), and that the professionals often make the solution ahead of time and let it age for a bit before using it. Beyond that, people talk about the particular kind of soap you start with, and there are several opinions.

You can check out a number of solution recipes on my site at: http://bubbleblowers.com/homemade.html

Two in particular to check out are the ones by the Bubblesmith, who is a professional bubble performer, and some extra information offered through the link for the Big Bubble Magic recipe.

Good luck,
Bubblin' Marilyn

Expertise

I am a collector of bubble blowers and can direct others to where they might find a specific bubble blower, and also help them get more information about bubbles and bubble blowers. Feel free to ask any bubble related questions and if I don`t know the answer I`ll give you some other ideas to explore. Please note that I am a COLLECTOR of bubble blowers, not a seller, but I can often point you in the right direction for one you would like to find.

Experience

Experience in the area:
I have been collecting bubble blowers for many, many years, and have around 700 in my personal collection. I have built a "museum" of bubble blowers over the years online at www.BubbleBlowers.com.
