Collections Law/Receiving Collection Calls for my neighbor

Question
I have received two phone calls from a collection company asking me to please tell my neighbor that they are trying to get in contact with him.  I would like to know if this is legal.  I have only lived here a little of a year and I do not talk to my neighbors...I don't even know this person.  After the second phone call I told the collection agent, please do not call me anymore. Will the calls stop now?

Answer
They are only allowed to call you once unless you ask them to call back or if they want to confirm the information you gave them. Once you advise them to stop calling they are supposed to stop. The problem is you cannot prove you asked them to stop unless you send a certified letter demanding they stop. If they call back ask them for name and address of the company and send the cease and desist letter.
