Question
I have a debt on my credit for $6,000 from the apartment that my sister was renting in florida. It was in my name however, she left the apartment without my knowledge and got evicted.  I live in nj so i didn't know about this until it showed up on my credit june 2006.  Now I have disputed it with transunion and equifax successfully but experian still states that the collection agency verified this.  I went ahead and wrote the credit agency, using certified mail, requesting that they validate this debt to me showing the following:
- What the money you say I owe is for;
- Explain and show me how you calculated what you say I owe;
- Provide me with copies of any papers that show I agreed to pay what you say I owe;
- Provide a verification or copy of any judgment if applicable;
- Identify the original creditor;
- Prove the Statute of Limitations has not expired on this account
- Show me that you are licensed to collect in my state
- Provide me with your license numbers and Registered Agent
I sent this letter Nov8, 2007 and i have yet to hear anything from them.  I am in the midst of writing a second letter now, requesting the same thing and including a copy of the original letter, with a copy of the certified mail receipt.  Now is this enough to send to Experian for them to remove this?  What should be my next step?

Answer
Leslie,

I'm willing to bet your letter won't go unanswered.  Tell your sister to pay this bill.  make sure not to cosign another loan for anyone.  If you didn't cosign then this act was fraud.  Becareful on what you're doing you don't want this to come back to bite you.
