Question
hi, i have had past credit problems with some charge offs.  i was remarried 2 years ago. our house in in my wifes name.  i was contacted recently by a company who purchased an old account, i gave a couple checks over the phone after being bullied, but after some research found some ripoff reports.  i cancelled payment on the second check, can they drag my wife into it even though this debt is from way before we were married? and can they come after our house if it's in her name?

thanks, patrick

Answer
Patrick:

No, they cannot touch her or her assets for a debt that arised before you were married.

A side bar, Ripoffreport is an extortionist, racketeering organization.  Their owner is a fugitive from the FBI and they are nothing less than a criminal enterprise.  Personally, I, Apex Credit Services, LLC, and Barnette Law Offices, LLC have sued them.  In short, don't believe anything you read on there.
