Question
Is it ok for a collection agency to tell a family member that you have a debt and the exact amount of that debt?

Answer
Kristian:

No, it is impermissible under the FDCPA for a debt collector to speak to anyone aside yourself unless "they are trying to locate" the debtor.  Their statements take them out of such immunity.
