Question
Hi Im getting CONSTANT collection calls for a person I had never even heard of till this point.
About 2 months ago they left a message on my machine along the lines of " If u do not disconnect this call now we will assume this is a valid phone number for so-and-so"
Of course no one disconnected it, it was a machine! Now they yell at me when i try too say no one named that lives here, accusing me of being the one in question. I dont even know anyone with that first name. I have not recieved any mail for this person either. They just wont stop calling me even AFTER emailing me telling me that I am out of the system.
I know I should send them a registered letter, but what do I say and will it make all this stop or is my phone number now linked too this person forever?
Thanks

Answer
Nichole:

In short, you must send them a written communication stating that they shall not contact you anymore.  It sounds as though this has risen to the level of an FDCPA violation already.  If you're a Tennessee resident, Barnette Law Offices focuses on collector abuse and harrassment.  Please contact Attorney Jason Barnette, again, if you're in Tennessee.  If not, I would still advise you to seek an attorney.
