Question I live in Ohio, Asset Acceptance filled a judgment against me and won. I have since then paid the money that was awarded by the courts which is of course less than they wanted. I have sent them money orders which they still have not cashed and sent copies to the court. They are not giving me the satisfaction of judgment but keep trying to get the rest of the money they want but is not awarded.
My question is what are my options to get the courts to file the satisfaction of judgment since Asset Acceptance won't do it. Is there a motion that I can file or can I counter sue them because this has seriously hurt my credit.
Answer File a motion for dismissal based on the judgment being paid in full. Send a copy of the motion to the creditors attorney or Asset Acceptance. Once the judge rules on the motion and dismisses the case you should be ok. If they persist in trying to collect send a letter advising them to cease contact and file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission if necessary. Send all letters by certified mail so you will have a receipt.
