can a debt collector call a relative and stae to them I know the debtee works at such and such and give out personal info to a relative-- and whats actions can take place

Answer
You may file a complaint with the Federal Trade COmmission for violation of FDCPA. Your account and financial information is private and they may not disclose any of this informaiton to anyone without written authorization.

You may also file a complaint with your state attorney general and the comptroller of the currency. Look on line and you can fuind their web sites and complaint forms and process.

You may also send the collector a cease and desist letter by certified mail, return receipt requested, demanding they cease all contact with you and your family, friends, etc. Once they sign for the letter they must stop calling.
