Question
I put down a friend as a reference. So they called her left her a message for her to tell us to return merchandise or they would press charges and we would be arrested. This is a reference we put down. How can they diclose my personal information with anyone but me.

Answer
Deborah:

If it was the original creditor, they can do this insofar as the FDCPA doesn't apply.  However, if it was a debt collector it is a violation.  They can only call in order to locate you.
