Question My x-husband is past due for his half of the medical charges for our 3 children. He owes $2,300+. In our decree it states that we are each responsible for half of the medical bills. Each month I send him a "statement" with receipts for the children's medical. Now I don't have money to pay for future medical. How can I get him to pay even if he says he doesn't have the money to pay? (Our children have medicine that costs about $200 each month.)
Answer Sara,
Unfortunately, this is too common of a problem. The divorce judge can only assign blame or what is to be paid. You usually have to file a lawsuit against him to force him to pay. But the reality of the situation is that if he does not have any money, then what is he going to pay with?
If he has money and is diverting it to other priorities then a lawsuit might help.
