QUESTION: A collection agency recently started calling my place of employment to contact me. I have previously sent a letter to the agency requesting all contact between us to be in writing via US Mail. Is there anything I can do to stop the agency from calling me at work? I have tried to call the agency but get shuffled around for hours at a time and end up being hung up on.

If the entity that is calling is a debt collector, then what they're doing is illegal (a violation of the FDCPA).  It seems that you've done all that you can do and thus, I would advise you to consult with a consumer attorney.  If you would provide us with the state you reside in perhaps we could render a recommendation.

I am not familiar with any consumer attorney's in Mississippi.  However, I would encourage you to check out the National Association of Consumer Advocates.  There should be an attorney in MS that can help.
