Question
I have been working with a number of small businesses over the years.  A few of them owe me a substantial amount of money.  Although they have promised to pay over the years, I am concerned that I may have been taken advantage of.  Since my business relationships with these companies is about to end, I would like to do something to strengthen my position as a creditor.

I was told that there is some type of voluntary judgment a creditor can sign that, once signed, guarantees that I will be paid without having to initiate a law suit.  Within this document I was told you can add payment schedules, collateral posted, etc. to try and make the agreement amenable to both parties.

If the creditor refuses to sign this type of judgment, then I would know that he had no intent of paying and I would need to pursue him in a court of law.

I have searched the Internet to try and find sample document that I could use in these situations but have not had any success.  Can you help?

Answer
Steven:

Provided that you are a resident of Tennessee or if your business is in Tennessee then, yes, we would be more than happy to steer you in the right direction.  Moreover, we could draft these documents; i.e., stipulation of judgment and liquidated damage clauses.
