Collections Law/credit report

Question
I recently obtained a copy of my credit report and went for help to clean it up. Credit solutions informed me that some of the things on my credit report were illegal. I was told that creditors were not allowed to report anything under the amount of $100.00. Was wondering if this information was correct. I have a few things on credit showing $88 $50 and $79 dollars owed in the collections part of credit report. Can I dispute as illegal reporting?

Answer
Toni:

The information you were given is absolutely false.  Any amount can be reported.  I would steer far and wide of this company insofar as it is evident they have no idea what they're doing.

When retaining a credit service organization, do your due diligence.  They should be bonded, registered and licensed by the state in which they do business (obviously, they should be a corporation), be a member of the Better Business Bureau with at least a C+ rating (getting in for a CSO is difficult and our ratings are often lowered simply because of the industry's reputation), and ideally, they should be ran by at least one consumer attorney and a staff of certified paralegals.

In any event, and please don't take this as a solicitation but, we'd be happy to look over your reports for free and see what we can do for you, if anything.  Please feel free to contact Apex Credit Services with any further questions and feedback is always appreciated.
