Question I had surgery 12/08 (auto accident) the Dr insisted on going on the lien. I had to pay him 5000.00 and he would go on the lien. I asked about a dozen times to take my insurance, but I guess that insurance companies will cut there fees. Well as of 12/08 (same as the surgery they placed me in collections and than reported it to the credit bureau 1/09! I didn't even know they had done this until I called my credit card co.to see why my interest was so high, and the fellow kept saying you really should check your credit report.. Well I did and they put it on my report 26 different times to the tune of 56,000.00.. the name & number of the collection agency was on the report so I called and asked why they did this and the woman stated I owed her 56,000.00 dollars!! I said I did not she said they had sent so many bills. I swear they never sent one bill... I know because I called her to the plate on that.. I was sent me collections within 2 weeks of the surgery. And on the form (from the dr) it states that if they do not receive payment in 90 days they can bill me.. I never received a bill and this company has destroyed my credit.. I also spoke with TRANS UNION and they say that the collection bureau bought my account.. How can they do that without some sort of contact no bill nothing..And it doesn't seem to bother them that they ruined my credit. Every other dr & the hospital is paid up to date.. (with my insurance) Still 2 weeks have past since I found this out and still no bill.. What can I do they are so mean to me and all I did was what the dr wanted, I still want to send it to insurance but am told no. thank you kiki
Answer Kiki:
You have two options. One, you can dispute all those tradelines through the credit reporting agencies. I doubt very seriously that all, if any, will be deleted. Secondly, you can retain an attorney and file a civil action. It sounds like a good case.
