Collections Law/Collector Has Wrong Person and won't stop harrassing!

Question
Wells Fargo Auto Finance started calling my cell phone about 7 months ago asking for a "Jeff & Marsha".  My husband is Jeff, but there is no Marsha and they somehow only found my cell phone number (which is actually under the main account number held by my husband Jeff).

We have told them over and over they have the wrong number.  We have talked with supervisors who have put us on a "no call" list.  Sometimes when I call, they say they can't find our information at all.

They have gone so far as to send a repo truck to home!  We live in a gated, golf course community with multi-million dollar homes, & the repo truck driver laughed when we spoke on the phone.  He told Wells Fargo they had the wrong address.  But they sent the repo truck anyway...obviously they couldn't pick up any car b/c we don't have ANY business with Wells Fargo!

So my question is...what on earth can we do to get them to stop harassing us?  They have the wrong phone number, wrong address, wrong everything.  Nobody is in our family or under our roof by the name of Marsha, but they insist it must be a relative "or something".

Help please!

Answer
Heather,

The first recourse you have is to send a certified mail, return receipt requested letter stating that they do not have the correct address, phone etc. Let them know how they have harassed you and your family. Once received, then they can if they continue the harassment you can hold them accountable via a lawsuit.

This often happens due to a bad "skip trace" where they try to locate information about missing people.

I wish you the best of luck.
