Collections Law/Judgement by Target Dept. Store

Question
My husband lost his job in November. I informed Target I won't be able to make another payment until he gets another job. They immediatley hired Craig R. Goodman Law Offices in Atlanta who successfully won a judgement against me. I didn't ignore any filings I received. I showed my living expenses were at a deficit. I asked to be notified so that I could appear in court, but never was notified. After receiving the judgement letter from the judge, I contacted the law firm, they told me to get back to them with the amount my husband will take home when he gets paid from a job he was just hired from. Will they garnish my wages? Can I go back to the county and file a complaint since I was never notified so that I could apper in court?

It is obvious that you simply don't understand the legal process. Nobody but you and your husband care whether or not your living  expenses are at a deficit. That description fits most folks these days. All they care about is whether or not they can get paid somehow.

And yes, chances are they can get paid one way or another whether you can afford it or not. They will garnish wages, freeze bank accounts and take all the money in them, put liens on property and vehicles and maybe even send a sheriff to your door with a truck to grab any thing of sufficient value to sell at public auction in order to get money from you. Please believe that they are pretty expert at getting blood out of stones when they want to. If you want to stop them from getting any money from you that can be done too but it does take some work and some investment to get that done. It isn't a question of whether you can afford to make that investment or not but rather only a question of which you can least afford. If you think you can't afford them getting up to 25% of your wages and taking other things such as cars, trucks and whatever else then you had best come up with some money to protect what you have. The first step is getting any and all money out of any bank accounts you might have. Stop any automatic payments from jobs from going to your bank. Get paper checks instead.
Don't use your bank accounts for anything. Pay your bills with money orders or cashier's checks. Hire a professional company to put liens on your vehicles and other valuables right down to the kitchen sink.
If you need help finding such a company give me a call and I'll steer you in the right direction.

I was Oklahoma State Chairman for the nationwide drive to defeat the Constitutional Convention which was proposed by various factions within our federal government such as the Council of State Governments and the National Organization of State Governors who were working hard to organize a Constitutional Convention to be held in 1995 for the purpose of rewriting our American Constitution to be more acceptable to the United Nations. I worked with Senator Charles Duke of Colorado and Senator Don Rogers of California and many others across the nation to keep them from getting the number of delegate states required to lawfully hold a Con-Con and we were successful. I have worked with many other legislative issues in Oklahoma and have always been very successful.
