I visited the dr recently. I misplaced my debit card and had no other method of payment at the time. The dr really harrassed me and demannded to keep my drivers license until I came back w the money! I said you have all my personal info...dl no ssn and phone no! I left. I told them I would payit and send payments. They sai no way...and called the police to collect tge debt? I got a call from the police after I told them I will pay! Its only 450 dollars! I have never had this happen it sounds nuts to me! How can they not accept payments. I'm afraid to do anything...and need help asap. Very weird I've had dr bills owed for much more in the past and they turn it over to collections! Wow unbelievable tks for the help

Answer
Martha,

If you do not pay your bills (including Doctor's bills) they can send it out to the collection agency to collect. It is up to each individual business or doctor.

I am surprised the police would get involved.

I am really not sure what the question is here.
