Question
Over a year ago, a debt collection agency presented me with a bill for a credit card that I had defaulted on. I was unable to pay in full, and requested a chance to make monthly payments. They refused, saying it would hurt their court case. They are now suing me for the amount owed. Should I consult with an attorney?

Answer
Alan:

Simply put, yes.  An attorney can assert defenses and perhaps counter-claims that the lay person would be unaware of.
