Question
I live in Minnesota and I was wondering if you are getting sued do they have to give you the summons before they can go to court. the reason I ask I got a phone call at work and a guy said he was there to serve me a summons but the place was locked. (he went to wrong door) He said he would come back tomorrow but when I realized it was Saturday and told him I don't work Saturday and haven't heard any thing since. so I am wondering if they could already have a court date set and I don't know about it and will miss it

Answer
Dear Mr. Hent,

Thank you for your questions.

How do you know it was a process server that called?  Usually they don't confirm service by phone.

Generally a person is "served" the summons by hand delivery, posted (on a door) or by publication.  State laws depict what is used.

If you need assistance with a past debt call me tomorrow or visit
