Question
I had to move unexpectedly in Nov 2001, and broke my lease to do so. Now a collection company (whom I've never made payments to) has filed with the court in my county in Colorado. Is the statute of limitations up on this debt?
Dear Jen,
Thank you for your question. In Colorado, arrears in rent debt is subject to a 6 year statue of limitation ( ends in 2007 ). According to the information provided, the collection agency is seeking a default judgment.
