Question
I have been summons by a credit union regarding a credit card bal. unpaid @ 2,500 for this coming wed.  Should I call the credit union and see if they will do a payment plan I can afford $50 a month.  Or do I go to the pre-trial conference to work something out?  My husband is in the boating industry and his pay was cut dromaticly, so we just don't have the money for credit card bills but I don't want our wages garnished or a lean put on  our house. what should I do?

Sarah:

You must only speak to the attorney representing the credit union inasmuch as they are know represented.  I would advise you to do so in order to avoid judgment.  If you cannot work something out before your hearing date, at least appear and plead your case to the judge.  They will probably enter a slow pay Order.
