Question
i had signed up for automatic payments but then my financial situation changed.
I have asked discover to take me off automatic pay and they say they can't. Is
that true?

Answer
Aretha,

I have heard about companies refusing to remove a customer from automatic payments for years. My only solutions are:

1) Send a certified mail to the company no longer giving them permission to remove money from that specific bank account and then notifying the bank. (may not work fast or well)

OR

2) Getting another bank account and transferring all your money to the new bank account. Leave nothing in the old bank account for them to get. Discover may try to charge you returned payment fees and your bank could try to charge NSF fees too.
