QUESTION: Hi,
I was informed by my supervisor that my paycheck would be garnished due to an outstanding debt owed my company. I have filled out no form not given permission. Neither did I receive any notice that this would happen as a result of slow payment. How do I stop this? Who do I call? I expect this to happen this week - June 14, 2010.
Any help is truly appreciated.

From what we read, a lawsuit was filed against you, and the company won a default judgment. Now they obtained a writ for garnishment.

QUESTION: they did not have a judgement nor did they go in front of a judge. They just decided to take it not knowing the law in NYS. They claim in CT they can simple garnish an employees wage. They have made the necessary arrangements to stop this. THEY DID NOT HAVE A JUDGEMENT!!!

They are trying to perfect a voluntary garnishment. The agency broke the law, and gave third party disclosures to your employer. You should look into retaining an attorney to file suit against the agency. What part of NY do you live in? We may have an attorney network there to assist.
