Hello, I would like to know what recourse hospitals and/or collection agencies have on a disputed bill or claim ?

If they have validated the debt, they have the same recourse they would have on an undisputed debt. That would included normal collection procedures such as letters, calling and placing the information on your credit history. I hope you have found this helpful.
