Question
Hello,

I was living in maddison apartments, in MI, i've changed a couple of places before settling down in chicago after that. Now after 6 months I get a call from the collections asking for 334$ after the deposit money. Additional 15 days amount after the 60 day notice(I paid for 45 days only as they said they will waive the amount). They said they will waive the 15 days, they never did that, that amount is now 334$s. How can I dispute this? they said they will do, we never bothered after that, and now it is on my head. the deposit amount is enough for the cleaning and other stuff.

Answer
Sai,

This is a common problem with creditors. Sometimes an employee will say something and never properly document the account. This is why you always need a signed letter when there is a special circumstance.

My best advice is to talk to the apartment complex and see if you can get them to agree that you do not owe the $334.00 in writing. Beyond that, you may have to settle with the debt collector to get it off your credit report.
