In december 2009 I had recieved my annual mammogram.  Not once in 2010 did I receive a bill from the provider.  Therefore I assumed all charges had been paid by my then insurance company.  Today I have received a bill from them stating I Owe $210.  and the insurance company had paid nothing.  I no longer have the same insurance and it would be impossible for me to even get the out dated insurance information.  Can a provider send a 1st bill statement over a year after service has been provided.

Yes they can and it could be caused by your insurance company.  You need to contact this insurance company (you only need your SS#).  If it is not your insurance company's fault, the doctors office should write this off to timely filing.  Your insurance company should be able to provide an EOB if they processed the claim as they should have.  If it is negligence on your doctors office, they should write it off.

I know you say it is impossible to contact your insurance company but all you need is a telephone number.
