Question
I received a call this evening, regarding a possible law suit against me. I live in Kentucky now, but at one time lived in Michigan. The guy said he was from a law office in Louisville, KY and the it was in regards to a law suit about a credit card that I had back in the late '90's. It was when I was married to my 2nd Husband. Can they still come after me after all this time? I'm not working and we have no income except my Husband's retirement and Social Security. And we are just making ends meet as it is. We have a prenuptial that say's that he will not be responsible for any of my debt's. Any help that you can give me will be great.

If your date of payment was in the late 90s, the statute of limitations has run out and the account is time barred.  This means they can ask for payment but can not use legal remedies such as lawsuits or placing information on your credit history.  Be careful!!!  If you make a small payment, you could start this "clock" back over.  I hope you have found this helpful and good luck with this.
