Question A year after leaving a school believing my tuition to be properly taken care of my the VA, I recieved a collection notice in the mail stating I still owed tuition. While the school had called to try to get me join student unions and come to mixers, they never had told me about my past due bill. They claim they sent two notices in the mail, though I never recieved them. Given that all it was was straightening out some bad paper work to get their money, I have no reason to lie. I told the collection agency the situation and told them I was disputing the debt. I guess that didn't stop them from putting it on my credit report any way. Once the paperwork was straightened out, I payed the debt in full and asked the collection agency to remove the bad mark from my credit report. They told me they couldn't do anything about it and I had to contact the school. I have talked with the school and they said they did what they were supposed to by supposedly contacting me twice and refuse to talk to me about it any further. What can I do to get this off of my otherwise pretty good credit report? How can I fight them?

Here is the deal. You were placed on a database of people who owed the school money. So, one day, at some big executive meeting someone said that "Hey..we are owed 8 Million Dollars in Fees..Lets collect it!" And then they sent the entire database to some bullshit collection agency.
