Question
Hi. I use to be friends with this girl and I helped her with her mortgage business.  I brought her a deal and she gave me a check for $1000.  Now, over 3 years later she is trying to collect that money back.  I no longer talk to her, so she keeps harassing me and threatening me.  I live in California.  What is the statue of limitation with things like that?

Answer
In California it is probably 4 years. I am a bit confused though. Did she pay you a referral fee or make you a loan? Why would she be tryling to collect the money back? Did you have a written agreement? Did you sign a note.

If she doesnt have any documentation she will have a hard time trying to collect. SHe coulld file suit in small claims but she may still have a hard time collecting her money.
