Question Hello Robert;
I live in Illinois and went on disability in 06. I have not worked sense 03. I have a credit card debt I stopped making payments on in 03 because I had no income. I know by law my SS is exempt from collection but my question is how do I protect my bank account from being froze? The only income in the account is SS. This debt has already been passed to at least 6 different agencies. I usually tell them I'm on disability and don't hear from them again.
But now First Resolution Investment Corp. has the debt and have retained a law firm in IL. Blitt and Gaines, P.C. to come after me. I called the law firm and told them I was on disability and to let me know of any court dates so I could be there to show the Judge my paperwork. Do they have to let me know this info? If not and they try to freeze my bank acct. what do you recommend I do now to protect my income. I'm single with no dependents and have one 1990 pickup with 188,00 miles. I barely survive on what I get and can't even afford Medicare Plan B.

The debt has been through 6 agencies. The "Law Firm" that you refer to FIRST RESOLUTION INVESTMENT CORP IS nothing but a debt collection firm.
BLITT AND GAINES is a small collection firm. We would eat them alive if they sue, and so would my readers. Send them a copy of this letter.
Listen, if you are served with any type of REAL court document, I want you to contact me personally. NOBODY CAN TOUCH YOUR BANK ACCOUNT WITHOUT A JUDGES SIGNATURE, and that IS SUBJECT TO A HEARING WHERE YOU CAN SHOW THAT ALL OF THE MONEY IN THE ACCOUNT IS FROM SOCIAL SECURITY.
