Question
I got into a terrible cycle of getting payday loans because my boyfriend lost his job a week after I had our child. I just recently stopped paying them because I felt like I was getting nowhere with the balances, I would get one out to pay another then I needed another one it just got really bad I have about 6 out currently!! What I want to know is can they sue me for not paying them because I have not contacted them to let them know my situation? Can they garnish my wages, I live in Cleveland Ohio? If the case goes in their favor can they try to take my house from me?

Answer
Kandis:

Yes, the can sue you and yes, unfortunately, they can garnish your wages.  They cannot "take" your home but, a judgment creditor may place a lien against title.

They would first have to institute a civil action against you before doing any of the above.
