Collections Law/credit card company

Question
I was just wondering if there is a law or anything on how many times a day, or specific days of the week a credit card company can call someone trying to collect money.  They call 3-4 times a day, everyday including weekends. My husband has consent to speak with them, they know this and yet they refuse to speak with him when he answers the phone. I told them I do know that I need to make a payment but cannot do so at the moment, and they hung up on me.

Answer
Not specifically how many times only that they cannot call repeatedly as an annoyance. The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act governs collection agencies or third party collectors and lays out what they can and cannot do and what you can and cannot do. Read up on the FDCPA at www.financialemergency.com. Click on the Fair Debt Collection link. There is a summary of the law and an actual copy of the law if you need more detail.
