Question
My grandfather wrote me a check from his credit card company (one of those checks that come with your stataments.)  He wrote the check to me, I cashed it and he died later that evening.  Now his credit card company has called me and is demanding that I repay the amount of the check because they say the was written and cashed the same day he died. The check was deposited in to my account in the morning and he died later in the afternoon.  Am I required to repay the credit card the money that my grandfater gave me prior to his passing?

    Absolutely not.  You are not liable for a debt which your Grandfather incurred.  His passing does not alter legal principles.  You are not privvy to the contract between your Grandfather and the credit card issuer.

    Tell the creditor to take up the issue with the Testator or Executor of your late Grandfathers estate.
