College Financial Aid Info/Finding Scholarships

Question
Hi Les,

I am 21 years old and about to graduate from a community college this winter. I need to transfer to Western Michigan. I am worried about money though. I haven't had to pay for anything since I have been at the community college because of the financial aide,Pell grants, TIPs program, and some other scholarships. I am adopted and I was adopted in 2006 which would have made me 15 going on 16. I was put in foster care at the age of 13 though. Are there any scholarships out there that is for me?
Thanks Kristen

Answer
Kristen,

Thanks for allowing me an opportunity to be of service to you.  There are many on-line scholarship sites and grant sites available on the Internet, however there is one that I feel covers most of the situations, and that one is:

www.fastweb.com

There is a company in your neck of the woods called College Planning Network.  If you google them... you may want to call, and speak to John or Scott - the owners - and see what services they could offer with regards to a Scholarship Search.

Both are great guys... and make sure to tell them you were referred to them by Les Thomas of College Funding Connection in San Diego.

One of the things you way want to look at is transferring to a Private College which will have more of the "Free Money" in financial aid than Western Mich.

All the best to you... have a wonderful and joy filled Christmas and a very Happy New Year.
