QuestionThom, thanks for the quick response! I'm almost sure the picture was taken in or around Wilmington, DE. I appreciate your help.

-----Question-----
Thom,
I have a football picture of my Great-grandfather Joseph Chandler Palmer from the state of Delaware. The football in the photo says "Orange '09 Champions" and there is a dog mascot - a white boxer. There are 16 players along with a couple of guys I assume are coaches. Joseph would have been 21 or 22 at the time. There are no letters or team names I can see.
Can you help to identify the team and what championship this would refer to?
Thanks,
Greg
-----Answer-----
Greg, hello!
Nebraska Cornhuskers may have played in the 1909 Orange Bowl. I will continue to search and advise if I can find a team that used a white Boxer as a mascot. I think the Canton Bulldogs may have used the Boxer.

Hope I've started you along the way!

AnswerGreg, If you can start at the city and state, you can trace through the archives of the local paper. If you could find a single name, you could trace back through the children and grandchildren. Let me know if you get on the scent!
