College Football/Football Walk on Div 2 team

Question
I'm a senior student looking to graduate December 08 or may 09 and I haven't played football since middle school.  I have been working out and filled out some papers for a walk on tryout for our football team.  I want to know the chances a coach is willing to give me a shot at playing on the team.  I'm extremely driven and willing to work hard for good results.  Also I am waiting on the phone call and want to know what I should expect for a div II walk on tryout.

My stats are 5'6" 220 lbs.

Answer
Anthony, hello and Happy New Year!

If you work hard and stay disciplined, you have a great chance of making a team, but it depends on the position you seek to play and how much support your former Coaches can give.  You need to get as football ready as possible.  If you're not in shape, if your Sprint times are not solid, if your diet is not in line, if your position has strong competition, etc.  All of those things are critical.  The Coaches will tell you what the requirements are, but that is assuming you are physically and mentally prepared for the tryouts.  You need to talk to others that will be going through the tryouts.  They will advise what you have to do, specifically for that school.

Take care,
