Question
Hey, I just got done reading your response to a guy that wanted to go out for a wide-reciver position in college.I to am exactly like him. I didnt have time to play in high school because of jobs and things like that. I did, however, play three years of rugby. I'm 6'5, 240 pounds. I want to become a defensive end or a linebacker at Georgia Southern. The position I played in rugby required speed and great tackling ablility. How do you think I'll do with walk on tryouts?

Answer
Nick, hello!

If you have a Rugby mentality, you're going to be incredible at Linebacker or DE for the Eagles!!!  I coach a men's baseball team and have had some GSU players on our team. I love the area and hope you will make Coach Hatcher's team.  They're going to get better over the next few years.

Even without the background of football experience, the colleges are still looking for a highly motivated Leader.  What you lack in football playing time, can be overlooked if you turn their eyes during the spring camps.  Do not be too pushy, but show them that you
are a cut above the others.  If you have skills, you will be on the roster.

Take care and I'll be watching for your start!
