Questionwhats up Thom,
I wanted to ask you what are the chances of making the team at NC State? I live in north carolina just turned 20 years old i'm 6'0-6'1 about 180-185 lbs i played basketball in high school for two years as power forward but not on the school team though. i signed up for football camp one summer for my school but that's about it.
But i love football its all i think about here latley and i would like to play WR on a college team. i stay in pretty good shape for a while i was working out 3 and four days a week and a diet to go along with it too.
But do you think i have even a shot at making the team and being a great player at that position or anywhere else for that matter?
AnswerChad, hello and Happy New Year!
If you have the athletic skills to be a power forward, you certainly should be able to compete on a footbal level. You and the Coaches would have to decide where your best suited. Your lack of experience would be a huge negative for the Div-I coaches because they're looking at Blue Chip guys with 4-8 game experience. Since you would be a bit older than most of the team, your advantage might be in maturity and Leadership. You would be more likely to get on a team like Elon,Mars Hill, Furman, Georgia Southern, maybe Appalachian State. The competition to be on a college team is fierce, but much tougher to be a Wolfpack member
rather than Div-II-A, or Division III.
Do not give up but you definitely will have to go a lot further than the experienced player if you hope to unseat one of them. Great ballplayers have been discovered at walkons. They blew by the competition because of a number of qualities, so the saddest thing would be in you never answered the question. Can you make the team? Give your best efforts. Let me know if you make the team!!
