College Football/scholarship after walk on

Question
hi, i have been accepted to Valdosta state university, and i want to walk on for their football team. I played 3 years of HS ball and ran track my junior year. I play WR, 6'2, 195. haven't timed my 40 in about a year but i recently ran an 10.77 sec 100 meter. I have no doubts about making the team, i was just wondering if i end up being a starter, would they offer me a scholarship? or would i have to ask them for it? thanks

Answer
John, you need to be asking them about a scholarship for your first year, especially if they don't bring it up!  They may offer you the scholarship after your first year.  VSU is a great school and they have a quality football team.  Coach Hatcher built a strong base and your new Coach was smart enough to turn it into a Championship team this season.  I will follow your progress for all of your years and wish you the best of success.  My youngest son knows a couple of Savannah boys attending Valdosta State.  His band played in Valdosta a few months ago.  Check out their music at:
