College Football/Onside Kicks Ungrounded

Question
QUESTION: Can an ungrounded onside free Kick be caught by K beyond R restraining line?

ANSWER: Al, hello!

It would be First Touching if K catches the ball in the air beyond the free kick line.  R would have the ball at that spot (unless there is another penalty).

Any K can recover the kick if it has both touched the ground and goes beyohnd the plane of R's free kick line.

QUESTION: Are you referring to NCAA or Federation rules?  I think there is a difference as i read both of their rule books.  NF is clear and agrees with your answer, but NCAA is ambiguous in that it does not state that all three of the conditions in 6.1 have to be met.
Thanks

Answer
Al, I will review the NCAA rules but believe the answer doesn't change.  I will get back to you over the next few days when I can spend some time looking through the NCAA rules. It is confusing.  I have a football meeting tomorrow night and will pose the question.

Take care!
