Question
Team A punts ball past the line of scrimmage and one of Team B's players signals for a fair catch.  One of Team A's
players interferes with Team B's right to fair catch because the ball on its downward flight hits a player on Team A with the player who signaled a fair catch trying to catch.  Another bouncing off of Team A, another player on Team B picks up the ball and starts running. What is the proper call? I would think Team B could take the end result of the run or a 15 yard interference penalty from the spot of the foul. What is the correct call? Thanks

Answer
Paul, hello!

Assuming Texas rules follow the rules of Georgia, the ball would be blown dead and not allowed to be advanced.  The penalty would be enforced from the spot of the foul.

Take care,
