College Football/Walk-ons at The University of Texas
Expert: Thom Brooks - 10/7/2008
QuestionI am attending UTSA this year as a CAP student, I will be attending UT Austin in the fall of 2009. I would like to walk-on to their football team. I played football my senior year in high school. Here is a link to my highlights, if it helps answer my question better (

AnswerBrad, your chances are equal to all of those that apply. If you have the skills, you will be competing for those slots with men of equal skill (or close) and they may have more experience than you. You will be trying out for one of the premier teams in the nation, so your competition will be blue chips.
Assuming you are on a rigid physical training program, good diet, and that you do not have any character flaws that would hurt their program, the question is...... What are you going to do to stand out above the rest? Are you a Leader? Can you inspire the others around you? Can you bring chemistry and team spirit to the 'Horns? That's the critical ingredient the Coaches look for when they have a lot of quality players to choose from.
What a tremendous memory to play for the Texas Longhorns! I wish you the very best of success. When you make the team, let me know so I can follow your career!
Take care,
