Question
What year did they start using the clip on the chain in high school football.

Thanks.

Answer
Dennis, hello!

I have no idea but went to the archives for Patents Pending.

My men's baseball team,  the Savannah Bombers, are playing for our League Championship tomorrow at historic Grayson Stadium here in Savannah.  We're leading in the Best of Three and one more win will give us the title.  It would be our 3rd in the past 4 years.  The team we're playing won it last year and we beat them two years ago.  So, it's past 2:30 in the morning and I'm ready to go stand in the dugout!

When I get settled down again, I will try to research your question. I'll get out my clip, find the patent number/manufacturer, and find the inventor.  That's where the date should be found.

I surfed and found one story about Australian football using clips in the 1860's but have no idea if it was similar to America's game use.

Take care,

Thom Brooks
