College Football/Becoming a Division I player
Expert: Thom Brooks - 11/29/2008
QuestionI am a high school junior and i have decided that i want to play either HB,DB, or maybe WR for a division I team like Texas or Ohio State. My high school is very small and does not have a football team, and it is impossible for me to play with another team because by the time that my school is dimissed, most teams are already an hour or two into practice. I'm about 5'8" and 160 lbs(I know I have to get that up to 200). I am also very fast. I know I have to try out and be a walk on and hope to earn a scholorship. What can I do to make sure I make the team?
AnswerDamian, hello!
I have attached websites that will help you to explore the schools and divisions where you can apply. Without experience, you would have a formidable challenge to Walk On to a major college, but if you're a very special player, someone will give you the opportunity.
