College Football/Grey Shirt Recruiting

Question
My son signed a letter of intent in Feb 2008 to play Div 1 football. He has since been a grey shirt and will not report until Jan 2009. Via the grapevine, other schools have expressed interest in him. We have not spoken directly to any school regarding recruiting and frankly are not interested.
My question is... what are the rules governing recruitment of a "grey shirt" player? Once an LOI is signed, can a player be recruited while a grey shirt? If that player wants to attend a school other than the one he signed an LOI with, is there a way out of that commitment and what are the consequences?

Answer
Mat, hello!

I do not know the Ethics rules on another college trying to recruit a current Grey Shirt.  I have attached the NCAA websites that could help.

Take care!!
